Émilie Bélanger

Émilie is a trailblazer and someone who can successfully « drive » a project. An experienced entrepreneur who started and grew her own environmental company when the field was still in its infancy, mainly in the mining sector in the beautiful Abitibi-Témiscamingue region, demonstrates her level of expertise. Now Vice-President of Corporate Development at GCM Corpo, her innate sense of marketing, people skills and passion for business development inject a healthy dose of energy: « The impact I can generate when I’m convinced of what can be done, at that point for me, no barrier stands in my way. »

This knack for connecting with people and creating lasting relationships stems from Émilie’s deeply human and humble nature, qualities she loves to find in others: « From the moment someone opens the door of humility to me, I know we’re going to work well together. Someone who respects their own values really impresses me. She emphasizes that it all comes down to people: « Engineering isn’t always Cartesian. »

Émilie likes to help her colleagues sow the seeds that develop them, training people to bear the vision in mind, to look at the matrix that’s taking shape. In her opinion, you must invest time in explaining to people, and thanks to these well-planted seeds, see a synergy emerge. « People lead you down new avenues or ideas start to converge quickly. Over the years, I’ve come to understand that the real pleasure lies in making a team shine, not just one person. »

Speaking of synergy, this is what attracted Émilie to GCM Corpo. « In Environment, we’re ahead of the projects. The approach is different from other branches of engineering. » GCM has recognized this diversity in its approach. « Now we have several subsidiaries, because we realized we had some very unique individuals in our organisation, and we recognize that our people deserve to live their own style. » Yet all these subsidiaries belong to one big family, where a synergy has emerged enabling close collaboration that elevates its parts to more than its sum. « I’m proud to wear the GCM Corpo colours, because the thing that attracts the workforce is the chance to see different colours where everyone can find their own. »
